Super Street Fighter 4 2012 Ver. Balance Changes Part 1

So it was no secret that Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition was a game in desperate need of a patch. After the announcement at Evo 2k11 of ver 2012 everyone has been awaiting the “day of reckoning” where balance would be restored and characters would be returned to their rightful glory.

Here are some of the major balance changes made to the original 12 characters plus C. Viper. For the full breakdown on all of the specific changes you can check them all out at Eventhubs.

Ryu – The biggest change to Ryu was his ultra 2 Metsu Shoryuken. They have made it easier to anti air and combo with. You can now hit the full animation after a counter hit ex fireball both with and without Focus Attack Dash Canceling depending on how close you are to the opponent.

Chun Li – They are fixing the bug where characters would fall out of her ultra 1 animation in Arcade Edition. Chun Li’s fireball has faster start up now making it easier to use as an anti-air and in combos.

Ken – Ken’s EX Shoryuken now does 10 extra damage for a total of 190.

E. Honda – Light Punch Sumo Headbutt once again has the upper body invincibility it had in “Super.”

Blanka -All of Blanka’s rolling attacks now do 10 extra damage including his EX. Blanka’s charged Rock Crusher move is now + 5 frames on hit.

Zangief – EX Green Hand now does 10 extra damage for a total of 140. EX Green Hand and Light Spinning Pile Drive (SPD) both got an extra 50 points of stun bringing them both up to 150 stun.

Guile – The frames in which Guile could be counter hit out of his Sonic Boom may have been taken out. (This is not 100% confirmed) Guile’s air grab is back to 3 frames of start up and his towards hard punch now does 10 extra damage for a total of 100.

Dhalsim – Yoga Inferno now does 30 extra damage for a grand total of 330. Dhalsim’s Yoga Blast damage got tweaked a bit so that the first hit now does 20 more while the second hit does 20 less. This makes Yoga Blast trades favorable for Dhalsim. The hurtbox on Yoga Blast also got lessened and Dhalsim is now able to combo after it with certain moves. (DAMN!)

Balrog – Balrog’s Headbutt damage has been buffed back up to “Super” damage. His medium, heavy and EX Headbutts do 130, 140 and 150 respectively. Balrog’s Ultra 2 Dirty Bull got a huge damage buff from 300 to 399. Balrog’s close standing hard punch no longer whiffs on certain crouching characters. (Time to get paaaaid!!!)

Sagat – Angry Scar Tiger Uppercut damage got increased by 10. This applies only to the weak, medium and EX versions.

C. Viper – Ultra 2 Burning Dance got buffed from 380 to 410 points of damage. EX Seismo’s damage got nerfed by 20 points for a total of 100 damage. Ultra 1 Burst Time received a damage nerf from 480 to 441.

Vega – Crouching heavy kick is back to it’s “Super” damage of 110. Vega’s command normal Cosmic Heel got 1 extra frame of hit advantage so at the worst it will be -3.

M. Bison – Light and Medium Scissor Kicks got an extra 50 points of stun bringing them up to the heavy and EX versions of 150 points of stun. The first hit of Scissor Kicks now have 1 extra frame of advantage on hit so when FADC’d Bison will be +5 frames at best.
